CAN Cancer is a new, local appeal to provide community assistance to cover non-medical living expenses for Central Oregonians fighting all forms of cancer.
CAN Cancer was established by Gil, Stu and Corinne Martinez of Wilderness Garbage in cooperation with the Central Oregon Haulers, a group of garbage and disposal companies including Bend Garbage & Recycling, Cascade Disposal, High Country Disposal, Prineville Disposal, and Madras Sanitary Service.

Effective January 1, 2010 consumers who wish to throw away electronics such as televisions, computers and monitors will no longer be able to throw them in the garbage. Legislation has passed to mandate electronic manufactures provide drop-off locations in each county in Oregon. The drop-off location in Crook County is the Crook County Landfill.
